Kurz Elektronik and DLG Electronic Technology establish joint venture in China
In November, Kurz Elektronik founded a joint venture in China together with Shanghai Paizhi Electronic Technology Co, Ltd and Nantong Shuohua Electronics Co., Ltd. The focus of Kurz Haian Ltd., based in the Nantong region near Shanghai, is on the production of battery management systems (BMS) and electrical controls for consumer products, household appliances and industrial applications.
The contract for the joint venture between Kurz Elektronik GmbH from Althengstett, Germany and the two Chinese partners Shanghai Paizhi Electronic Technology Co, Ltd – the shareholder of DLG (Shanghai) Electronic Technology Co., LTD and Nantong Shuohua Electronics Co., Ltd. was signed in November. Kurz Elektronik GmbH, majority shareholder of the joint venture, develops and manufactures electronics for household appliances and industrial applications at three locations in Germany, Lithuania and China. DLG (Shanghai) Electronic Technology, which has production lines in China (Shanghai & Shandong) and Vietnam, develops and manufactures lithium battery cells and battery packs for consumer and industrial applications in Chinese, European and American markets. Nantong Shuohua Electronics Co., Ltd. produces electronic controls for various applications and customers. In the joint venture, the companies bundle their specific expertise in the development and manufacturing of battery management systems.
Electronics production and assembly will take place at the joint venture’s plant in Haian, about 200 kilometers northeast of Shanghai. On a production area of currently 1,200 m² about 50 employees are employed. In the medium term, the plant can be expanded by an additional 1,600 m² of production space – preparations for an initial expansion will begin in the near future.
Siegfried Hettich, CEO of Kurz Elektronik GmbH, explains: “We are very much looking forward to working even more closely with our strategic partners DLG and Nantong Shuohua. This will create synergy effects in the area of development and production, which will benefit our customers”
